Stick stems from an Ayous wood module, the shape of which is inspired by that of a pair of pliers: two bent elements stretched apart by a central support. “This detail – explains French designer, Matali Crasset, is the vocabulary that gives life to a lamp collection based on its repetition. While the texture of the wood allows the diffusion of a soft, warm light, the repetition of the module creates an graphic pattern and unexpected shadows. Modules made in a flexible material are joined together and “tamed” to surround the light source. The light produced is veiled by the smoothness of the wood.

The collection is made up of pendant lamps, one table lamp, various floor lamps and one wall lamp, all for indoor use. The light is diffused through an ornate weave of slats in Ayous, a light-coloured wood found in Africa, while the stem of the floor lamps is in Toulipier, a light-coloured wood from North America. The structure of all the lamp models is in painted metal. The lamp runs on mains power and is suitable for use with fluorescent and LED bulbs.

The Stick collection by Fabbian is a refined sculptural lighting system based on the repetition of flexible natural wood elements crafted from Ayous. Designed by Matali Crasset, each luminaire is composed of curved modules that surround the light source, forming an organic and architectural volume that blends craftsmanship with contemporary design language.

The wooden slats filter the light to create a warm, diffused glow while projecting dynamic shadow patterns that enrich the surrounding space.
